Celebrate at "In Your Honor"

The prestigious Gold Award will be presented to 217 Girl Scouts from our Council at "In Your Honor," May 15 at Trinity Washington University. The Gold Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout can earn, symbolizing outstanding accomplishments in the areas of leadership, community service and advocacy. All of the projects completed this year will have a lasting and positive impact on our region.　

"We are proud of the powerful legacy these Girl Scouts are leaving in their community," said Lidia Soto-Harmon, Chief Executive Officer of GSCNC. "They have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to serving the community. They will be powerful agents for progress and change, and are our brightest hope for the future."

This year's Gold Award projects are documented in the 2011 Award Yearbook. (27MB PDF) Girl Scouts Seniors and Ambassador, (ages 14-18), who successfully complete the Girl Scout prerequisites may submit a Gold Award project proposal. Each girl commits hard work and a minimum of 80 hours to complete her project. A little over five percent of eligible Girl Scouts nationwide successfully earned the highest award in Girl Scouting.

Girl Scout Council awards 18 Graduating Seniors

Gold Award Scholarships

Eighteen graduating high school seniors will each receive a Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarship, an award of $1,000 to assist her with college expenses. The Gold Award is highly regarded by colleges and universities, the U.S. Armed Services and employers. Congratulations to all the girls.
