The Girl Scout movement celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2012 and the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital is beginning the celebration with the release of Girl Scout Stories, a podcast series available on our website. The stories will be released each week until June 2012, when over 200,000 Girl Scouts, friends and families are expected to converge on the National Mall for Girl Scouts Rock the Mall: 100th Anniversary Sing-Along.

The Girl Scout podcasts feature captivating stories of lives impacted by Girl Scouting, told by girls, women and men throughout the Greater Washington Region. Girl Scouting has forged marriages, expanded horizons and brought fathers closer to their daughters, along with many other uplifting stories. One girl shared how Girl Scouting empowered her to take action and call the local animal shelter to propose a Girl Scout patch program. The podcast stories are heartwarming and universal.

As the Girl Scout movement begins to celebrate the 100th year anniversary, the podcast series honors the rich stories of Girl Scouts' past; as the organization looks forward to creating new stories of Girl Scouts' success, leadership and service going forward another 100 years."

"Everything that Girl Scouting stands for is brought to life through these narratives," said Colleen Cibula, Chief Operating Officer of the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital, "Discovering things we never knew about ourselves, connecting with others, and effecting change in our communities and in the world." These stories were collected to give people the chance to honor the history of Girl Scouting's past 100 years, and to look forward to the next 100 more.

Listen in. Be inspired and join us in celebrating 100 years of Girl Scouting.
