Girl Scouts & Kappa Delta Sorority Celebrate
"We were so excited for the opportunity to help build confidence in young women by instilling into them our values and helping them realize their full potential. Last year, we had a great response from the over 300 Girl Scouts that came to our event - some even stating on their evaluations that going to college is now one of their goals after interacting with us." Kirsten Roma, VP Community Service – Kappa Delta.
Kappa Delta Sorority welcomed Girl Scouts of the USA as one of their philanthropies in 1998. Since then, Kappa Delta collegians and alumnae have served as mentors and volunteers and have reinforced our common values of honesty, integrity, friendship, and leadership through unique workshops and events with the Girl Scouts. On a local level, Kappa Delta at the University of Maryland hosts an annual Princess Party, bullying workshops, and uniquely ME! workshops. This upcoming spring, Kappa Delta will be participating in the Girl Scout Centennial Celebration and "Power of Girls" workshop in order to educate Girl Scouts about the issues girls around the world face, especially as it relates to education, in addition to the annual Princess Party.
