March 3: Two Exciting Council Events
Stepshow and Family Day
Saturday, March 3 is an exciting day in the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital.
DC Step Showcase
The DC Step Showcase is a well-loved tradition in our Council. Stepping is an African-American tradition that traces its origin to Africa. To honor this important cultural tradition and help local girls develop valuable teamwork and leadership skills, GSCNC holds the DC Step Showcase. The Step Showcase will highlight the hard work of each step team when they perform their routines to a cheering crowd of 1,200 family members and friends at Trinity Washington University’s Center for Women and Girls in Sports in Northeast Washington.
Women’s History Month Family Day
Kick off Women’s History Month with a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts. The day includes musical performances; presentations on women inventors; video interviews of audience members by teen videographers; a vintage Girl Scout uniform fashion show; and art, science, and stamp-collecting activities.
Check out a few of the 100th Anniversary Art Contest pieces that will be displayed:
