A heat advisory is issued when the heat index is forecast to reach 105 degrees. An excessive heat warningis issued for hazardous heat of 110 degrees or higher. It also means a prolonged period of dangerous heat will occur.

The Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital reminds you to:

  • stay hydrated: drink plenty of water
  • stay indoors when possible
  • move outdoor activities inside or into shaded areas

Our Council is taking heat precautions at our camps:

  • adding extra water stations
  • making sure campers stay safe and hydrated
  • moving outside activities to shaded or indoor facilities
