About 750 Girl Scouts in 9-12th grade, and adults participated in the 2013 Presidential Inauguration in Washington, DC. Girl Scouts have assisted with the Inauguration since 1933. This year the Presidential Inaugural Committee requested 1,500 Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. The teen volunteers worked directly with the Inaugural parade, helping with seating, providing directions to metro and heating tents, and assisting the elderly and persons with disabilities.
