Women of Distinction Luncheon

Tickets still available   

Every year we recognize notable women in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia at Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital’s Women of Distinction luncheon.

Tickets are still available for the luncheon, to be held on Sept. 25, 2013 at the Holiday Inn in Martinsburg, WV. Tickets are $40 each and are available at the Girl Scout office. Please call (304) 596-9930 to purchase your tickets.

Three outstanding women from the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia were selected to receive the prestigious award based on distinguished service, excellent leadership and capacity to serve as role models for girls.

Susan Caperton - 2013 Girl Scouts Women of Distinction Recipient. Susan Caperton is an attorney, the Chair of Morgan County Backpack Program, a member of the Executive Committee for Starting Points of Morgan County, an active volunteer with her church, and was instrumental in starting Stepping Stones to a Brighter Future.
   
Jean Neely - 2013 Girl Scouts Women of Distinction Recipient. Jean Neely is a retired Navy Captain and a founding member of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society. She was instrumental in starting SAIL—Shepherdstown Area Independent Living, is a co-founder of Jefferson County League of Women Voters, and is a former Jefferson County representative of the state Resource Conservation and Development Council.
   
Ethel Bovey - 2013 Girl Scouts Women of Distinction Recipient. Ethel Bovey was a Women's Editor, Feature Editor, and columnist for the Martinsburg Journal. She is the author of two books, a member and volunteer at Otterbein United Methodist Church, and the past president of Martinsburg High School Alumni. She has been recognized by a variety of organizations for her lifelong contributions to the community.
