Healing Garden at the USO Warrior and Family Center

Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital is working with the Warrior and Family Center on Fort Belvoir to help with the upkeep of the center’s Healing Garden and surrounding green space. We need Girl Scouts of all ages to pull weeds, mulch, plant and prune the gardens. The Healing Garden is a space where wounded and recovering active duty military can enjoy the outdoors.

Throughout the month of October, Girl Scout troops who have signed up for  Sudden Service can schedule time with Deborah Dailey  weekends only. Girl Scouts will help make the garden and surrounding green space enjoyable for our military and their families. Gardening gloves, shovels and other supplies will be available. Please bring any sit-upons, kneeling pads and sun screen. Water and a small snack will be available for everyone.

In honor of Juliette Gordon Lowe’s Birthday on October 31st, we will place decorated pumpkins throughout the green space surrounding the Warrior and Family Center.
