Leadership Conferences

Each year, Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital offers three leadership conferences for girls who are not Girl Scouts. These conferences give girls the opportunity to see what Girl Scouts has to offer.

Keys to Leadership

10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
American University, Washington, DC

This program is open to middle and high school girls of ALL abilities (includes grade 5) who are non-Girl Scouts living in West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC.

An inclusive convening of young and emerging leaders of ALL abilities. The conference includes an engaging, exciting day filled with fun-filled, thought-provoking workshops and activities. Workshops are led by dynamic community leaders and change agents.

Encuentro

This program is open to all Latina girls showing leadership skills inside and outside the classroom. The program is open to girls of all secondary schools in the states of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC who are not currently registered as Girl Scouts.

A gathering of Latina leaders, designed to inspire Latina youth, help them recognize their own abilities and become active in their schools and communities. This year’s theme is “Envisioning My Future.”  Participants will select to attend presentations by those professionals whose careers they are most interested in learning about. There will be a college fair, a panel of recognized Latina leaders in our community and a tour of Marymount University.

Your Turn to Lead

Howard University School of Law, Washington, DC

The program is open to all middle and high school girls in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia who are not currently registered as Girl Scouts.

A convening of youth leaders designed to inspire teen girls to recognize their own abilities and become active in their schools and in their communities.  This year’s theme is “Your Voice Matters.” Participants will select to attend presentations by those professionals whose careers they are most interested in learning about. There will be a college fair, a panel of recognized leaders in our community and a tour of Howard University Law School.
