Congressional Aide Alumnae Reception
Celebrating 40 years
On March 4, 2014, our Council celebrated the 40th anniversary of our Congressional Aide program, which was started by our former Council president Barbara Lois Lehman.
Congressional Aide is one of our many programs that allows girls to cultivate their leadership skills. Girls who participate in Congressional Aide are able to experience first-hand how a congressional office runs and how the legislative branch of government operates.
Girl Scout Congressional Aide alumnae visited the offices of several representatives and senators to increase visibility for the program. They even had the opportunity to meet with Senator Mark Warner.
UPS generously opened their Townhouse to Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital for a reception honoring the anniversary of Congressional Aide. Members of Congress, Congressional Aide alumnae and committee members, and many others were present for this exciting event.
Thank you to UPS for your continued support of Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital. And thank you to members of congress Anna Kirkpatrick, Grace Napolitano, Bill Flores, Cheri Bustos, Susan Brooks, Donna Edwards, Sam Farr and Janice Hahn for attending.
