Why Choose Girl Scouts?
Girl Scouting provides girls with opportunities to develop important life-skills. In a recent national research study girls responded that because of their Girl Scout activities they have the chance to develop nine important characteristics, including:
- Self Reliance
- Self-Competence
- Social Skills (ability to make friends)
- Respect for Others
- Feelings of Belonging
- Values-clarification and Decision-making
- Helpfulness and Concern for Community
- Teamwork
- Leadership
All girls are invited to join Girl Scouting --- including girls with special needs, girls of every race, religion and socioeconomic background.
If a girl requires special assistance, please contact GSCNC's Inclusion Specialist via email or by calling 800 523-7898 ext 251, and let us know how we can help. Troop leaders are supported by council staff to find resources that meet a variety of needs. Together, we will try to find a troop that works for her.
If finances are a concern, financial assistance is available to help pay for membership, uniforms, books, dues and/or program events. For details, click here
