Girl Scouts, we want you to create an original song about your
Girl Scout experience and upload a video of yourself performing the song on YouTube.
The winner will perform on stage at
Girl Scouts Rock the Mall: 100th Anniversary Sing-Along
on June 9, 2012!
One Girl Scout will be selected as the overall winner. She, along with a chaperone, will receive a trip to Washington, DC to perform on stage at Girl Scouts Rock the Mall: 100th Anniversary Sing-Along before an expected audience of over 200,000 Girl Scout friends, family and alumni.
The contest will run from November 10, 2011 through April 20, 2012. The contest is open to registered Girl Scouts in grades K-12. Parental permission is required. Individual entries only, no group/Girl Scout Troop performances allowed. Girl Scouts may submit up to 10 multiple, unique entries.
Create an original song about what the Girl Scout experience means to you. Record your song using a video camera, cell phone or any recording device. Upload that video as a video response on www.youtube.com/GSRockthemall.
To make a video response on YouTube:
Click the All Comments box located underneath the official video's information (the same place you would click to write a comment). A hyperlink on the right of the box called Attach a video will appear — click this link. You will be given two options for choosing your video response:
Choose a Video
The Choose a Video option lets you respond with any video you've already posted to your YouTube account.
Upload a Video Response
This option works like the normal upload process, if your video has never been uploaded to YouTube before.
Click the Upload link at the top of any YouTube page.
Click the Upload video button to browse for the video file you'd like to upload to our site. Select the file you want to upload and click Open.
As the video file is uploading, enter as much information about your video as possible in the relevant fields (including Title, Description, Tags, and Category). You're not required to provide specific information, but the more information you include, the easier it is for users to find your video!
Click the Save changes button to save the updates you've made to the video file.
One thing to keep in mind—your video can only be used as a response once. If you've used a video as a response in the past and want to use it for a new response, it will no longer be listed as the earlier response.
Parental guidance required for girls under the age of 14, and minors must have a parent or legal guardian’s permission.
Your video song will be judged based on creativity, originality and musicality. The winner and nine runner-ups will be notified by YouTube message on or around May 1, 2012. The winner will receive a trip to perform at Girl Scouts Rock the Mall: 100th Anniversary Sing-Along on the National Mall in Washington, DC on June 9, 2012. The top ten entries will receive a Girl Scouts Rock the Mall T-shirt. When you upload your video to www.youtube.com/GSRocktheMall, you are agreeing to the full rules of the contest.
