WASHINGTON— Get ready for another Girl Scout Cookie season! The Girl Scout Cookie Program plays a major role in transforming girls into entrepreneurs as they learn essential skills like: money management, goal setting, decision making, people skills and business ethics.
The Girl Scout Cookie season includes the seven classic varieties of cookies (in order of popularity): Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-si-dos, S’mores, Toffee-tastics and now the newest cookie, Lemon-Ups™ -- a crispy, tangy lemon cookie baked with a lemon glaze and inspiring messages baked into every treat. Girl Scout Cookies are $5.00 a box, with the exception of our specialty cookies, Girl Scout S’mores and gluten-free Toffee-tastics, which are $6.00 a box.
Last year Girl Scouts in the Greater Washington Region sold 4.6 million boxes of cookies to fund community service and their troop’s fun activities like camping and travel. CEO of Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital, Lidia Soto-Harmon, said, “This entrepreneurial program teaches girls important life skills. We are fueling the next generation of business leaders.”
Girl Scouts are now selling cookies online and door to door in person. Beginning February 7, customers can visit Girl Scout Cookie booths in front of local supermarkets and businesses throughout our region. It’s easy to find a Cookie booth near you by going online, www.girlscoutcookies.org and enter your zip code to find a booth near you. All proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie Program stay in the local community to support Girl Scouting in this region.
