July Blog Post from CEO Lidia Soto-Harmon

Dear Girl Scout Family,

Congratulations to every Girl Scout who has graduated or celebrated a bridging ceremony this month! Yay, I am so happy for you and encourage you to celebrate your accomplishments in true Girl Scout fashion with exciting summer-fun programs like "Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors" and Total Wellness day. These programs celebrate every Girl Scout by uplifting their mental and physical health to ensure they are ready to conquer their next big goal.

This Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 5-7 P.M. is Girl Scouts Day with the Spirit at Audi Field. With the purchase of a special  ticket, your scout will receive a limited-edition Washington Spirit Girl Scout patch. If you organize a group of 12 or more, the group has the opportunity to participate in the halftime parade on the pitch. Senator Kaine of Virginia and I will be doing the coin toss, and I am excited to see the crowd filled with Girl Scouts as we cheer on the Spirit!

On Saturday, July 23, 2022 , we invite you to join us as we partner with AmeriGroup to host "Total Wellness Day." This program for Juniors and Cadettes incorporates a Zumba class, a trail-mix station, and an affirmation station, and each Girl Scout receives a "fun bag," which includes products; like a jump rope and a stress ball, and more! In addition, each participant earns a 'staying fit' badge. To register, click HERE .

We encourage you to extend your outdoor fun and physical fitness beyond "Total Wellness Day" by beginning the summer-long outdoor challenge called the "Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors Challenge." Through this patch program, you can celebrate the beautiful outdoors and complete up to 50 activities to earn your challenge patch. Start this challenge today HERE. We encourage you to start now as the challenge ends in September 2022.

We hope your summer exploration is limitless as you share it with your Girl Scout family. We also encourage you to share your Girl Scout adventures with friends outside of Girl Scouts. This year, our goal is to ensure that every youth can explore Girl Scouting in 2023.

This year has been amazing! I thank every Girl Scout member and champion for your continued support as we close the 2022 Girl Scout year. Without you, Girl Scouting would not be possible. I cannot wait to share all our exciting plans for the 2023 Girl Scout year next month. Have a fun and safe summer.

Yours In Girl Scouting,

Lidia Soto-Harmon
