Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital announced today that it has received a $3.8 million gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. This exceptional gift, the largest in our history, is part of an $84.5 million gift to Girl Scouts of the USA and 29 Girl Scout councils.
“We are so very grateful for and honored by MacKenzie Scott’s
investment in girls’ well-being and leadership,” said Lidia
Soto-Harmon, CEO of Girl Scout Nation’s Capital. “This incredible gift
will help us to accelerate and deepen our work with girls, volunteers,
community partners, staff, and donors.”
Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital volunteers, community supports over
47,000 Girl Scouts, in 25 counties in Maryland, Virginia, West
Virginia, and the District of Columbia, through troops, programs, and
camps. Together with our adult volunteers, we have over 75,000
members.
Thanks to this gift our council can continue to strengthen and accelerate the progress we are making to build a future where more Girl Scouts and families know they belong.
We are grateful MacKenzie Scott joins our generous donors by investing in our Council. Her gift will amplify the impact of the time, talent, and resources that so many members of our community give each year to support youth in Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital. We are thankful for all the volunteers, partners, donors, and cookie customers who support our mission, to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
We invite youth, volunteers, community partners, and
philanthropists to join us in our quest to make the world a better
place.
