Hello 2022! A January blog post by CEO Lidia Soto-Harmon
Hello Girl Scout Family,
It’s 2022! Happy New Year! This year will be a year of growth for our council, and I am so excited to lead us into our 110th year. One of the newest additions to the Girl Scouts this year is our new cookie, Adventurefuls! Adventurefuls are an indulgent brownie-inspired cookie with caramel-flavored crème and a hint of sea salt. It is unlike any of our current cookies, and it is one of my favorites!
2022 marks our 110th year of Girl Scouting. As a council we have so many exciting things coming up to celebrate this amazing anniversary. Our Annual Meeting will be held, for the very first time, in Prince George’s County at the Bowie Baysox Stadium, on Saturday, April 30th! We are taking the concept of “Hitting it out of the Park” to a whole new level. Prepare for a great 2022 in Girl Scouting.
This year I want to continue our focus on helping girls find a place
to have fun with their friends, find ways to develop a positive
outlook through these unprecedented times, and help them fulfill their
dreams. We know that in Girl Scouting, with the encouragement of their
troop leaders and other caring adults in their lives they will be able
to conquer this new year. I met Amanda Gorman at a Vital Voices event
in 2019 and was so impressed with her insights. I would like to quote
our first youth National Youth Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman,
“There is always light. If only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it.”
Thank you to all our Girl Scouts, Girl Scout volunteers, and Girl Scout families. Last year we were able to hit it out of the park, and I am looking forward to all the great things 2022 will bring for our Council. I am glad you are here to take part in making it a grand slam!
Yours in Girl Scouting,
