Backpack Camping - (Part 1: April 1, 2023 - Planning Session) (Part 2: April 22-23, 2023 - Overnight Skills Session TBD by class)

Part One: IN-PERSON (Gore Property) - April 1, 2023 (8:00am-5:00 pm)
Part Two: IN-PERSON (TBD) - April 22-23, 2023 (Overnight - 9:00am-12:00 pm)
In Backpack Camping, you will learn health and safety procedures for a Girl Scout backpack camping trip including water purification methods. There will be focus on how to make planning and execution of the trip girl-led, including how to identify and discuss concerns/considerations relevant to a successful experience.
Traditional Cookout & Campout Training - Camp White Rock - April 1-2, 2023

This overnight course qualifies participants to take a troop to established sites with readily accessible potable water and latrines or bathrooms for both the day cookout trips and the overnight camping trips. Skill building includes using kaper charts; building wood and charcoal fires and using portable cook stoves; selecting appropriate campsites; pitching tents; camping at sites with Adirondack shelters, glen shelters, platform tents, treehouses, cabins or lodges.
