Description & Activities

2022 Camp Theme: Harry Potter

Description: With a wave of your wand, you can enter a long of Wizards and wonder. Camp Mighty Oak will begin at Platform 9-3/4 to spend the week with Harry, Ron and Hermione at Hogwarts. Join a Quiddich team, try on the sorting hat and learn the magic of true friendship with your fellow scouts.

Activities: Kayaking, slingshots, tomahawks, archery, outdoor skills, badge earning, outdoor cooking, arts and crafts, songs, games, nature/STEM, and hiking.

Overnights: PA's and PATs will have an opportunity to spend an overnight at camp.

Camp activities (including field trips, extended hours, and overnights) are offered at the discretion of the camp leadership team and may be modified or canceled to follow COVID-19 restrictions. Camp activities may not be available to all units and can be canceled due to weather or other extenuating circumstances.

Camp Location: Camp Brighton Woods 

Bus Transportation: Bus transportation is available, but arranged after campers register.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there may be an additional bus transportation fee collected after registration to provide for more buses to accommodate social distancing during transportation. More information will be provided as camp gets closer. 


Volunteer at Camp!

Camp Mighty Oak is planned and put on each year by a group of dedicated Girl Scout volunteers! Due to safety ratios, enough adults must volunteer each year for camp to run. Unfortunately, if not enough volunteers sign up, camp will be cancelled. We need your help to ensure that camp can happen this year and that every girl has an amazing camp experience.

Registration Information

Placement Type: First Come, First Served 

Registration Deadline: July 2

Register your camper based on their 2021-2022 school year grade.

Refund Policy: Full refunds will be provided if requested on or before May 31. 75% refunds will be provided if requested on or before June 7. Half refunds will be provided if requested on or before June 20. No refunds will be provided after June 20. If campers cannot attend due to COVID, they can choose to take a partial refund and receive a "Camp Packet" that includes the camp shirt, craft materials, and more. 

In the event of a camp cancellation by Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital, you will receive a full refund. If you must unexpectedly cancel your registration for this camp for reasons related to COVID-19, you will receive a full refund regardless of the time of cancellation.

AIT I Requirements: Must have completed 6th grade and a Council-approved Program Aide training.

AIT II Requirements: Must have completed 7th grade and a Council-approved Program Aide training.

Aide Requirements: Must have completed Program Aide training and completed 8th grade.
