Description & Activities

2022 Camp Theme: Girls Run the World

Description: This year Washington County Day Camp is "Girls Run The World". Your Girl Scout will be learning about women in all fields, women in government, and how women have impacted history. We will go on walks, visit City Builds, have guest speakers, do lots of crafts, and learn how to be true to ourselves.

Activities: Swimming, games, badge earning, arts & crafts, and hiking.

Field Trips: All campers will take a field trip each day of camp. Field trips include swimming, movies, ice skating, and trips to the Cultural Trail and the Fairgrounds.

Camp activities (including field trips, extended hours, and overnights) are offered at the discretion of the camp leadership team and may be modified or canceled to follow COVID-19 restrictions. Camp activities may not be available to all units and can be canceled due to weather or other extenuating circumstances.

Camp Location: Hagerstown City Hall on August 10th. (Date subject to change.)

Bus Transportation: No bus transportation is available.

Volunteer at Camp!

Washington County Day Camp is planned and put on each year by a group of dedicated Girl Scout volunteers! Due to safety ratios, enough adults must volunteer each year for camp to run. Unfortunately, if not enough volunteers sign up, camp will be cancelled. We need your help to ensure that camp can happen this year and that every girl has an amazing camp experience.

Benefits of Volunteering

  • Guaranteed placement for your camper(s) through early registration access in December/January
  • Reduced registration rate
  • Units at camp for sons and preschool-aged children of volunteers - yes, they get to come to camp too!
  • Receive volunteer hours for training and camp days
  • Network with other Girl Scout volunteers in your area
  • Learn new skills, try new things, and take part in fun camp traditions!

All volunteers should fill out the following survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/22RVJ26Questions can be addressed to Rebekah Welty at 240-527-8917 or email GSWCDC@outlook.com.

Complete the interest form or connect with the camp volunteer contact at wcdcgs@outlook.com. You’ll be happy you did!
