Kim R. Ford, Chief Executive Officer of the Council, attended her first In Your Honor ceremony and spoke about what it means to find your Ikigagi. Ikigagi is a Japanese concept that means “a reason for living,” and according to Japanese culture, everyone has an Ikigagi.
Ms. Ford went on to detail that an Iikigagi consists of four core elements that blur into one— and are your reason for being here on earth. The four elements are: what you love, what you’re good at, what you can get paid for, and what the world needs. She encouraged Girl Scouts to follow and pursue what they love and the other elements will fall into place.
With each Girl Scout moment shared, we applaud the Gold Award Class of 2024 on their achievements and the lasting changes they’ve made to their community as they take their place in Girl Scout history.
