The Women’s Advisory Board (WAB) is composed of over 100 influential women leaders from the Washington metropolitan region. The women leaders are committed to sharing their influence and expertise with the Council and working together to raise the profile of Girl Scouting within the corporate community. Most importantly, WAB members serve as mentors to teen Girl Scouts working towards the Girl Scout Gold Award through various opportunities and workshops.
This year, we are excited to introduce our new Co-Chairs of the Womens Advisory Board: Ana Martinez Chamorro, Owner and Photographer of Ana Isabel Photography and Kathleen W Coxe, Director of Business Development for ECS Engineering.
Ana is a freelance photographer focusing on corporate, social, and political events in Washington, DC. Her work includes documentary styles, portraitures, and editorial perspectives. Most recently, she photographed for the 2021 presidential inauguration of President Biden and Vice President Harris. She traveled and photographed First Lady Dr. Biden on her first trip outside of Washington, DC. She is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts, having earned her Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards at the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital. When she's not photographing, she enjoys trying out new restaurants and traveling to new cities. Her goal is to visit all 50 states.
"Having grown up in this council, I have lived the benefits of being inspired and supported by women whose wisdom and advice have shaped me into the entrepreneur I am today. I stepped up to be a co-chair because I, too, want to give Girl Scouts what it gave to me for many years." Chamorro says about her new role.
Kathleen is currently a Principal at Savile Capital Partners, using her background in strategy in the private debt and equity world. She is an expert at bringing experts together on large scale commercial projects and sourcing financing. She has also worked as an engineer, project manager, and financing professional. Her experience arms her with the perspective of not only what it takes to get things done, but also how to be a successful woman in a technical field.
Kathleen has a passion for the Girl Scouts mission, “My involvement in scouting, the impact it had on my life growing up, and the subsequent professional career choices I made were in a large part directly influenced by the leadership opportunities I had as a Girl Scout growing up. Because of its mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place – I made it my mission to introduce my daughters to Girls Scouts.”
Fun fact! Kathleen grew up as a Girl Scout in Newark, DE and loved camping. She especially loves to cook over an open fire.
