Step into History. Speak Your Truth. Lead with Courage

What does it mean to be a leader who inspires others—even in the hardest times? At Ford’s Theatre, Girl Scouts will step back into Abraham Lincoln’s world to uncover stories of resilience, empathy and bravery—and discover how their own voices can spark change today.

Your visit includes:

A 50-minute guided museum tour led by Ford’s Education staff. Explore the life of Abraham Lincoln, his family and the people who shaped history—including those who conspired against him. Walk through Civil War–era Washington and see how Lincoln’s leadership helped hold a divided nation together.

A hands-on leadership workshop that invites Girl Scouts to:

• Explore the meaning of leadership and identify their own strengths.

• Practice public speaking and teamwork through creative activities.

• Learn from Lincoln’s life how compassion and courage can change the world.

• Reflect on their role as changemakers in their schools and communities.

Each Girl Scout will receive The Top Hat Leadership Workbook and access to an online companion guide to continue the journey after their visit.

Participation in this experience may help Girl Scouts earn the Life Skills – Finding Common Ground Badge, recognizing their ability to build understanding, empathy and shared purpose.
