Girl Scout Safe@Home Program
Prepare for Your First Steps Toward Independence
Staying home alone for the first time is a big milestone. This 90-minute program is designed specifically to give Girl Scouts the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to stay safe when they are home without an adult. Through engaging discussion and practical examples, Scouts will learn how to manage their responsibilities safely and handle unexpected situations with confidence.
What You Will Learn and Practice:
Safe Habits and Prevention: Learn how to identify and prevent unsafe situations around the house, establish secure routines, and establish safe habits for being home alone.
Emergency Preparedness: Master specific steps on what to do when faced with unexpected dangers, including power failures, severe weather emergencies, and other household hazards.
Basic First Aid Assessment: Get introduced to the Safe Sitter First Aid Chart. Scouts will learn a clear, step-by-step system to help them calmly assess and respond to basic injuries and illnesses.
Developing Independence: Build the personal responsibility and critical thinking skills needed to take those first successful steps toward independent self-care.
