"Girl Scouts in the Arts" will inspire our K-5 Girl Scouts
to think creatively, to develop their artistic abilities, and to
engage with several different art forms in an uplifting and supportive
environment. This will be a multi-level program with 20 spots
available per level (Daisy, Brownie, and Junior).
Each
level will work with local artists in two different workshops,
allowing Girl Scouts to experience the range that is The Arts! Daisies
will participate in "Dance Explorations," where they will
learn a basic movement sequence while exploring foundational dance
concepts such as rhythm, coordination, and performance skills.
Daisies will also participate in "Eco Art," where they will
be led through a project that uses natural materials to make an art
piece while working on basic crafting skills such as coloring, gluing,
and using scissors.
Brownies will engage in
"Printmaking!" They will be led through the making of a
simple print block, which requires carving their designs. They will
engage in a "Songwriting" course where they have the
opportunity to make a short song and learn about notes, chords, word
choice, and performance.
Juniors will take a class in
"Fashion Design," where they will embellish a reusable bag
and have an introduction o sewing, cutting and design. Lastly, Juniors
will do an "Improv" workshop to develop their performance
skills. Daisies will earn their Eco Art badge while Brownies and
Juniors will earn their Art and Design badge!
