Girl Scouts Virtual Workshop: Marine Corps Robots & Robotics Badges

Where: VIRTUAL
This virtual STEAM workshop invites elementary-aged Girl Scouts to explore the exciting world of Marine Corps robotics and learn how robots support military missions. During this engaging session, participants will complete activities that align with the Daisy "What Robots Do" and Brownie "Design a Robot” badges.
The program is FREE and will be broadcasted on Zoom on Saturday, September 6th.

Virtual Robots of the Marine Corps: Grades 6th-8th

Join us virtually at the National Museum of the Marine Corps as we celebrate the 250th birthday of the Marine Corps!
In this special program, participants will explore how Marines use robotics on land, at sea, and in the air to support missions and overcome challenges in the field.
This FREE virtual program will be presented on Zoom on Tuesday, September 9th, and Wednesday, September 10th with sessions offered at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM (EST).

Scout Day Whitewater Tubing

An adventurous whitewater tubing trip, featuring class I-III rapids. This trip is for strong swimmers who want more thrills on their outdoor excursion. This trip begins at 604 Valley Rd, you will then be shuttled to your river put-in, where you will float through Harpers Ferry for a roughly 2-hour trip!

Cadette Girl Scout Day with the Library of Congress
Girl Scout Level: Cadette

Join the Library of Congress as Cadette Girl Scouts work toward achieving their Comic Artist badge. Cadettes will explore items from the Library of Congress’ collection, hear from comic artists about their process, create their own comic book and learn about the work of the Library to oversee one of the world’s largest collections of comics. During this program Cadette Girl Scouts will receive all the supplies and guidance needed to complete the Comic Artist badge.
Register for one 90-minute session below. Space is limited and registration is required. Doors to the event room open 15 minutes before your registered event time and prompt arrival is recommended to ensure all badge activities are completed.
Session 1: 10 AM - 11:30 AM. Tickets available on August 9, 2025
Session 2: 12 PM – 1:30 PM. Tickets available on August 9, 2025
Session 3: 2 PM – 3:30 PM. Tickets available on August 9, 2025
You may only attend one of the 90-minute sessions. The Comic Artist badge requirements will be completed in one session. Girl Scouts must be accompanied by at least 1 adult per 10 children.

Garden Discovery Day

Garden Discover Day is a day of children's educational programming for grades K-12. Master Gardeners teach lessons, give garden tours, live demonstrations, and help participants create take-home crafts and plants. Programs will cover various topics, including nature, bugs, gardening, flowers, trees, and growing food. We include activities designed specifically to fulfill Girl Scout badge requirements. All programs will be held at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg.

My Family Story with the DAR Museum
Girl Scout Level: Brownie

Use the DAR Museum collections to explore how family histories are collected and preserved. Share stories about your family with other Brownies and play a game to see how stories change over time. Then, write about your day in a brand-new diary and create a family tree to tell your family story!
This program results in earning the “My Family Story” badge, which is included in the registration price.
$12 per scout. Adults are free of charge. Any additional children or siblings are welcome to attend and participate in the program but must be registered as well, the cost to participate is $5. Those too young to participate are also able to attend but must be supervised.
If the minimum registration of 8 scouts is not met, this program may be cancelled, and payment refunded.

Playing the Past with the DAR Museum

Travel back to 1913 to join the Women’s Suffrage Parade! Create your own “Votes for Women” sash and write a speech advocating for a woman’s right to vote. Learn about some of the heroines of the movement, including women that participated in the parade right here in DC. What would it be like to be a girl at this time? Why is it important that women have the right to vote?
This program results in the “Playing the Past” badge, which is included in the registration price.

Junior Mechanical Engineering Workshop

Dining Etiquette Weekend

We're excited to offer FREE dining etiquette training with the purchase of The Manner Box for each of your Scouts this Fall.
The Manner Box provides fun, engaging, and life-enhancing tools that set your scouts up to have a competitive edge socially, in school, and in their future careers. Each box contains hands-on items that contribute to their leadership growth and etiquette skill-building.
In the free etiquette course, scouts will learn about each item in the box and how to use them to master dining etiquette.
Additionally, at the end of the course, scouts will earn their Social Butterfly Badge. Manner Boxes are $40.00/each.
