To earn this award, Cadettes deepen their understanding of leadership, complete specialized training, and put their skills into action by assisting at troop meetings, events, or day camps. Program Aides grow in confidence and capability while making a lasting impact on the Girl Scouts they support.
Volunteer-in-Training Award
The Volunteer-in-Training Award is a leadership opportunity for Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts who want to mentor younger Girl Scouts and grow as educators and role models. This award is perfect for older girls who have completed prior leadership experiences and are ready to take the lead in designing and delivering programming for a younger troop. With the guidance of an adult volunteer, VITs create and lead a series of engaging activities over four or more sessions—building skills in planning, teaching, communication, and mentorship along the way.

Counselor-in-Training Award
The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Award is a unique leadership experience for Ambassador Girl Scouts who are passionate about the outdoors and ready to mentor younger campers. Through this award, Ambassadors participate in specialized camp leadership training and gain hands-on experience by helping lead activities, guiding younger Girl Scouts, and building inclusive, fun, and safe environments. CITs develop essential skills in youth development, communication, and team leadership—perfect preparation for future roles as camp staff or youth professionals.
