A Girl Scout trip is different from a family vacation or school trip because Girl Scouts take the lead and make important decisions about where to go, and what to do.
Girl Scout travel can be planned from scratch, with youth and adults working together to create an adventure. Every effort should be made to make the trip as youth-led as possible with youth members actively engaged in planning and decision-making - from choosing a destination and setting goals to creating a budget, researching transportation and accommodations, and deciding what activities to include. Adults serve as guides and mentors, providing support and handling planning responsibilities as needed. The level of youth involvement may vary depending on the age and experience of the youth, but the goal is to give them opportunities to make decisions and develop skills.
