For the first time in 51 years, the National Girl Scout Convention is coming home to Washington, D.C. Join Girl Scouts from across the country as we celebrate our incredible Girl Scout community and commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary in the capital.
The Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital (GSCNC) is delighted to host several events during the Convention—and we want YOU to join us for all of the fun, learning, and connection! Let’s show our fellow Girl Scouts from across the country just how special our community is.

With more than 50 million alumni, the Girl Scout Movement is the premier network of women leaders in the United States. Join us at Planet Word at 6:00 p.m. on July 19 to celebrate the bold leadership of Girl Scouts in our region as we kick off the week of the 2026 National Girl Scout Convention in Washington, D.C.
Girl Scout Festival at Franklin Park | July 20–25
Who: Anyone (no Girl Scouts affiliation required!)

Whether you’re all in on Girl Scouts or are just discovering us, this free celebration is for everyone.
You can expect:
Fun and adventure — outdoor activities, yard games, and more surprises
Great music — an all-women go-go band, a DJ, and a Girl Scout singalong
Signature Girl Scout experiences — customized nail art, green treats, and giant cookie boxes!
A market selling items created by our own Girl Scout youth entrepreneurs
Science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics activities for the whole family
Girl Scouts Unite: Girls Make History | July 23–25
Who: All Girl Scout youth and adult members
Where: Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C.
This year’s theme, Girls Make History, is a nod to trailblazers of the past and Girl Scouts taking meaningful action now. This energizing three-day event will include fun and enriching activities, inspiring speakers, interactive workshops, and more.
In particular, on Thursday you won’t want to miss these events:
Opening Ceremony, featuring live performances sponsored by Broadway.com
Bridging Ceremony honoring Girl Scouts from across the nation
Talk by “The Space Gal” Emily Calandrelli, the 100th woman in space and host and co-executive producer of the hit Netflix series Emily’s Wonder Lab
Block Party in Franklin Park (free and open to all) to cap off the day! Shuttles will be available from the Convention Center.
Volunteer and get FREE convention access!
Volunteers make the magic happen! If you’re a Girl Scout community member age 18 or older, you have tons of roles to choose from. Check out the volunteer opportunities.
Looking for volunteer opportunities for young people? Girl Scout Juniors and above are invited to participate in the historic flag procession that will kick off the 58th National Council Session on June 20.
