Dear Girl Scout Family,
I hope you are all safe and ready to welcome the warmest season of the year. As summer approaches we are preparing to celebrate 110 years of Girl Scout Camp! With 21 day and evening camp programs and two sleep away camps, we are excited some many girls will enjoy the outdoors and reconnect with friends!
As we continue to celebrate traditions such as Girl Scout Camp, we also celebrate the foundation of Girl Scouts – being an inclusive organization. June is Pride Month, we want to bring awareness to the LGBTQI+ Patch Program. This patch program uses art, community, and discovery themes to explore LGBTQ+ Pride Month. Patches can be purchased HERE.
This month I would like to also celebrate two social media campaigns we have launched including Girl Scout Bridging and Singing in the Park Video Competition.. Bridging is an important transition in a Girl Scout’s life. It is a defining moment when a girl becomes aware of her achievements and is ready for new adventures and responsibilities, and we want to celebrate all Girl Scouts who have flown up to the next level. Thank you to everyone who has shared your bridging photos so far, please keep them coming. We will be sharing your photos throughout the month on our social media. You can tag us HERE, use the hashtag, #gscnc and #girlscoutsnationscapital or email us at email@example.com.
Our second social media campaign is the Singing
in the Park Video Competition. Girl Scouts are still
singing after all these years! We invite all Girl Scouts to enter
the competition by recording yourself singing one of three songs
and submitting the video to
. Every Monday until
mid-August a new winner will be announced. Several winners will be
selected for a Top-Secret video shoot to celebrate “Singing in the
Park celebrating 110 years of Girl Scouting”. I look forward to
hearing all of your beautiful voices sing our songs!
As summer welcomes new opportunities, I encourage everyone to explore, and to have fun! Thank you to all of the Girl Scout volunteers, especially troop leaders for an incredible year. And a special shout out to all Girl Scout families for all that you do. I hope you all have a Happy Father’s Day and a Happy Juneteenth!
Yours in Girl Scouting,
